Do you still say your prayers little darling, do you go to bed at night, praying that tomorrow everything will be alright. But tomorrow's fall in number, in number one by one, you wake up and your dying, you don't even know what from.

Yes it is similar, but Mick's thread is identify the singer/group, and the other one is identify the song that the lyrics come from. I thought that the two complimented one another.

What 1960's song do these lyrics come from?
At first I thought it a dream that I was in,
Lost, lost in a sea of glass and tin.
But no, so dipping my hand in the back of my jeans
I grabbed a handful of coins to feed the machine.
Don't shoot the Meerkat, I'm loveable!

Agreed, I think I've been way too easy on you with the above so... Without looking it up on the internet, can you work out the following.
High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water. Nine years worth of breaking my back, there's no sun in the shadow of the wizard, see how he glides.

Still in the sixties

She walked through the cornfield
Down to the river
Her hair shone like gold
In the hot morning Sun
She took all the love that a poor
Boy could give her
And left me to die

As I appear to have stumped you all with this little teaser, I will tell you that the lyrics are from Star Gazer by Rainbow.

Spot on
Try this

What can you say when a girl doesn't want to know
Shes too far away
And she makes my life a dream

Jesamine by the Casuals.

Try this from the 1960s.

Beatniks and politics, nothin' is new
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view

Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothin' to lose
Anyone that point it out as anything other than a bloopr is a moron. Mind, Striker has its nutters!

Was Peter Gabriel involved?

Incense and Peppermints by The Strawberry Alarm Clock. I admit that was a tough one, either know it or you don't.

This one should be dead easy!

Well she's my woman of gold
And she's not very old - a ha ha
Well she's my woman of gold
And she's not very old - a ha ha
I don't mean to be bold, a-but a-may I hold your hand?

Well she ain't no witch and I love the way she twitch - a ha ha
Well she ain't no witch and I love the way she twitch - a ha ha
I'm a labourer of love in my persian gloves - a ha ha

Get it on

T rex

This is tough one.

Got on board a westbound 747
Didn't think before deciding what to do
All that talk of opportunity of TV breaks
And movies rang true sure rang true
